The department Environmental and Reliability Engineering combines the already established interdisciplinary areas of reliability and sustainability. The department’s researchers will analyze and, where necessary, optimize the entire spectrum of environmental influences on electronics (in terms of their potential to cause failure and aging), from complete electronic systems through to material interfaces. At the same time, the department will also assess the effects of electronics on the environment and sustainability. The department's close cooperation with Fraunhofer IZM as a whole, with its breadth of technical expertise, is a decisive advantage.
