Concluding Workshop of MATFLEXEND Project in Vienna

On September 19, 2016 the FP7 MATFLEXEND end-of-project workshop will be taking place in Vienna. Materials and device developments  for energy harvesting, particularly for wearables, will be presented.

The MATFLEXEND project has been a highly interdisciplinary effort. Thus, device work includes  a novel energy converter and a matched, integrated micro battery, ultra-low power electronics for converter and battery management as well as simulation tools for same. The materials work comprises novel and printable materials for battery electrodes and separators, highly conductive elastomers, printable spring  elements,  high-k dielectrics based on doped PVDF, and the integration of SWCNTs, as well as electrospun and forcespun nanofibers  doped into said materials.

The entire production chain, using established industry printing, deposition and patterning methods will be discussed, and prototypes will be presented.

An interdisciplinary round table including industry will concretely  discuss new opportunities for such compliant devices and materials in wearables including smart textiles, shoes; as well as other  e.g. medical applications.
