This seminar offers a comprehensive introduction to radar sensor technology. It gives an introduction to the fundamentals of high frequency technology with particular emphasis on radar systems. The seminar outlines the functions and various applications of essential components of radar systems with focus on the operation conditions, including environmental factors in the detection area and depth resolution. The seminar also considers the impact of new technologies on the evolution of radar sensor systems.

LAB COURSE

  • Component selection
  • Operation of radar sensor components
  • Design of a 24 GHz radar system
  • System defect identification and analysis

This lab course familiarizes you with the different components of a radar system in terms of their function and possible applications. You will build and use a 24 GHz system as an example to learn about common design mistakes and to understand their root causes with the strategies to avoid them. You will conduct your own tests and get acquainted with the versatile applications of radar systems. You will also learn to handle relevant interferences and master the modules’ specific
challenges.
