PhoxLab build on the experience of the European Flagship Project PhoxTroT. PhoxTroT joined the European competences of 15 nations and 21 partners to realize one vision:

A complete optical data communication chain, starting from die to die, over die to board, board to backplanes till rack to rack. PhoxLab is not only a lab with newest equipment like 100GS/s signal generator, 200 GS/s sampling rate scopes and spectrum analyzers. PhoxLab is also a transfer platform of our experience and knowledge to provide you the best development & test conditions to realize ideas or to improve products & characterize prototypes. PhoxLab offers a huge span of possibilities starting from single coupling- and loss measurement of chips and passive lines up to system testing with international standards using equipment that enables characterization beyond state of the art.

As experiments in the PhoxLab environment are always individual solutions. Some typical request are:

  • Optical Transmission:
    Loss down to -50dBm, including polarization behavior & harsh environment testing
  • Datacom Measurement:
    PAM4, NRZ and more
  • Bit Error Rate Testing:
    Up to 67GHz
  • Spectrum Analyzing:
    Range: 600 nm – 1750nm, pulse width down to 0.2nm for transmission lines & sources, characterization of PDs, VCSELs, IPLs and other optical devices.

But PhoxLab is not only a lab to characterize samples. It is also the chance to verify prior simulated designs and even more, to improve the entire system with the merged knowledge of the entire Fraunhofer IZM.
