Fraunhofer IZM stands for application-oriented, industry-related research. With four technology clusters, the entire range required for the realization of reliable electronics and their integration into applications is covered. The industry origins of our customers are as diverse as the possible applications of electronics. Fraunhofer IZM develops for the automotive industry, medical and industrial electronics and even for textile companies.
With more than 460 employees, it generated a turnover of 45.0 million euros in 2024. Around 40.0 percent of the turnover was generated with industry contract research. Fraunhofer IZM is represented at three locations throughout Germany; in addition to its headquarters near the center of Berlin, Fraunhofer IZM is based in Dresden and Cottbus, which are important locations for electronics.
Fraunhofer IZM's four departments drive technology development at an international level. Fields of application and trend topics are managed across departments and thus across technologies. Fraunhofer IZM is thus responding early to the trend that application is increasingly influencing technology development. With the trend topics, Fraunhofer IZM scientists observe and work on promising future topics in order to prepare future projects with industry.
Fraunhofer IZM benefits from its close cooperation with the Technical University of Berlin and other scientific institutions.
