The HiBord project is exploring novel vehicle wiring topologies for use in highly or fully autonomous vehicles. A smart combination of all electronic components promises exceptional reliability and error tolerance for the network to avoid the need for completely redundant electrical systems. Fraunhofer IZM has constructed a demo unit, consisting of a controller module and a network unit, to illustrate the opportunities for building in redundancy with the least amount of additional wiring.
