The Photonics West is the most influential conference for biophotonics and biomedical optics, high-power laser manufacturing, optoelectronics, microfabrication, and green photonics. This year it will be taking place from February 16 - 18 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, USA. Photonics West brings together more than 1,250 exhibiting companies and 20,000 attendees from both the United States and the international community.

Together with 60 other German companies and research institutes, Fraunhofer IZM will be presenting its range of optical technologies at the German Pavilion this year. The focus of the presentation will be on:

• Photonic integration platforms (optical substrates, components, and interconnects)
• 3D integration, automated assembly, and packaging
• Thin glass-based optical electronic circuit board and optical subassemblies
• High bandwidth optical communication and sensing
• RF, microwave, antenna and plasmonic systems
