Prof. Ulrike Ganesh explains Fraunhofer IZM technologies to Secretary Shri S. Krishnan

Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary in the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, visited Fraunhofer IZM in Berlin. The focus was on close cooperation with the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD) and valuable exchanges with host Prof. Ulrike Ganesh, Director of Fraunhofer IZM, and Prof. Ronald Freund, Director of Fraunhofer HHI.

The visit drew attention to the joint semiconductor ecosystem and the strategic partnership between Germany and India. It follows on from the visit by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week, during which semiconductors were identified as a key area and a memorandum of understanding was signed by both governments.

Fraunhofer already works closely with Indian microelectronics players such as the Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), and many industry partners. Secretary Krishnan's visit is seen as an agreement to further deepen the cooperation.
