From March to April 2025, Fraunhofer IZM hosted the online expert session series “Electronic Solutions for Challenging Environments”, showcasing innovative technologies for electronic systems operating under demanding conditions. The series comprised four online sessions in which institute experts Dr. Martin Hempel, Sigrid Rotzler, Dr. Stefan Wagner and Dr. Joshua Wilson provided insights into the development, integration, and optimization of electronics designed to withstand extreme temperatures, mechanical stress, high humidity, or special safety and compatibility requirements.

Topics included robust sensor packaging for maritime applications, the washability of textile-integrated electronics, reliability challenges in automotive electronics, and approaches for durable neural implants.
