Professor Schneider-Ramelow has dedicated almost 20 years of his professional life at the Fraunhofer IZM to research in the field of microelectronic and system-technological mounting and connecting technology. He has been lecturing on “Materials for System Integration” at the Technical University of Berlin since 2001 and was appointed as a Honorary Professor of the university in 2014.

Microsystems continue to shrink with on-going miniaturization. At the same time, they are expected to become more versatile, form-specific, resilient, and durable with every generation. All types of materials need to be integrated in the tiniest of spaces. This gives materials science an increasingly prominent place in the evolution of hetero system integration. The Technical University of Berlin recognizes this fact with its establishment of the new professorship.

As one of his first duties in the Electrical Engineering and IT department, Martin Schneider-Ramelow will focus on strengthening third-party research at the faculty’s Research Focus: Microperipheric Technologies. He is personally committed to getting young people interested in microelectronic packaging and supporting their technical education in the field.
