Ecodesign Learning Factory – Circular service design

Business is doing great, but the planet is moaning. This has to stop. But how? Join the new format of the Ecodesign Learning Factory on circular service design! This format combines methods from various fields to boost circular economy – and we want to test it with you!

What exactly are we going to do?

In this 2 day workshop, we will explore ways to envision and build circular services of the future. Using methods from fields like system thinking, service design and speculative design, you will be working on a fictional scenario, defining challenges and creating solutions for an exemplary industry.

Who should participate ?

The workshop is targeted for designers, industry professionals, product developers, environmental managers, business developers, and marketing experts. Anyone, who is curious about the potential of circular service design. Important – you don’t need to be an expert in any of those fields. This workshop is targeted towards beginner level.

So, if you are a circular, speculative or system pro already, you might rather choose a different format.

What’s in it for me?

You will gain a first understanding of circular processes and actively create potential services for a circular business modell. By going through the methods you will develop a feeling for the approach, get knowledge of the methods and get inspired for your daily work – who knows – maybe you will become an advocate for circular economy within your organisation – the world needs people like you.

Facilitators?

The workshop is facilitated by applied environmental scientists of TU Berlin and Fraunhofer IZM and design professionals from Fjord Berlin.

Fjord is a global design and innovation agency. With a human-centred approach, we design meaningful experiences for real situations, and build products and services that people love. We are partnering with the Fraunhofer Institut for a shared goal to enable organisations to create change from within, through methodologies that align with both people and the planet.

Fraunhofer IZM is one the world’s leading institutes for applied research and the development and system integration of robust and reliable electronics. New products and technologies have to comply with an increasing range of strict specifications and at the same time have to be cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.  The Department Environmental and Reliability Engineering supports technological developments until they reach market maturity with environmental and reliability analysis reaching from nano-characterisation level to evaluation and optimization at the system level.

As we are always zealous to improve we would like to collect your feedback afterwards in order to refine our methodology.
