In optical transmission technology it is often necessary to divide the signal to be transmitted into two or more components. For this purpose so-called X- or Y-couplers are used, which are produced using different processes. Fuse splitter and combiner constitute one group. Couplers consisting of fibers with a diameter of 125 µm are used for communications engineering. For special applications particularly in medical engineering or laser processing, however, couplers from fibers with larger diameters e.g. 200, 400 or 600 µm are required. We manufacture couplers for such fiber diameters with a distribution relation of 90% : 10% up to 50% : 50% in fusion technology.
